Today marks our one year anniversary for this project. Yay!
One year and 120 movies. It may take us some time to reach 1000… But we’re still going strong with no intentions of quitting – we’ve invested way too much time and money in this to give up now! Besides, The Great Edgar Wright himself has promised us a signed Baby Driver poster when we reach #1000. That in itself is motivation enough to keep going (although, to be honest, we think we might deserve a parade when the day arrives).
As we celebrate with alcoholic goodness and perhaps a film or two, we will introduce you to our film buddy – our lovely doggo Dewin who enjoys watching films with us, especially when there are animals on screen. Bask in his gloriousness, you magnificent bastards! We love you all!
As close to number 100 as we are, we are taking a short (one week) break from blogging. The reason is simply that we are Norwegians and Easter is upon us. As all good Norwegians know, Easter can be spent only one way: up in a cabin in the mountains with no electricity, running water, or internet, while we read crime novels in candle light and stuff ourselves with sweets and oranges.
Naturally, this will put a damper on our ability to write stuff on the internet. Or watch new films, for that matter. We might manage one entry (one has to come down to civilization to shower once in a while after all), but the blog will be a bit more quiet than usual.
But fear not, gentle reader! We shall surely return ere long to continue our journey through the strange and wonderful list Mr Wright has provided for us, well rested and ready to reach no. 100! Until then, while the champagne chills in anticipation of our 100th entry, we wish you a happy Easter and we thank you all kindly for sticking with us and for reading our rambles.
Recently, director Edgar Wright posted a list of his 1000 favourite films. As massive fans of Wright, my sister and I (somewhat drunkenly) decided to work our way through the list (’cause we have nothing better to dooooo). So we have decided to dedicate some time between actual work, reading books and playing Pokémon Go (it’s highly addictive!) to this project.
We will attempt to watch them in chronological order and document our filmatic journey in this blog. (Note that we are not film critics or professionals in any way! We just love films.)
Our aim is to post at least two films a week, but when winter creeps in over Norway (usually early September), there may be more frequent updates as there is no way of doing anything outside anyway.
In advance, we would like to thank YouTube, Netflix, our local library and my personal DVD collection for providing the films (I actually already owned 84 of the films on the list, which may not be that much considering there are 1000 films to get through, but as my collection consists of less than 500 films, I am quite pleased that 84 of them made the list).
And finally, we would like to extend our gratitude to the awesome Edgar Wright for making the list (thus giving us purpose for the next four years or so), and of course for making kick-ass films, all of which would feature high up on our personal top 1000 lists!
